5 Axis CNC Profile Machining Center

Mecal MC 302 Geos is a 5 axis CNC machining center for aluminum and steel profiles. Its strong gantry structure and powerful 12kW (S1) Electrospindle allow to work on large extrusions with Ø500mm saw blade. Suitable for milling, drilling, rigid tapping and cutting on 5 sides of aluminum and light alloy profiles.

 

Geos has two different versions. Geos-5 MMI and Geos MDT

 

Geos-5 version comes with self motorized clamps that allows simultaneous rapid clamp positioning as well as clamp repositioning during the machining cycle if an operation exist where the clamp is positioned.

 

In Geos MDT version, each clamp is equipped with a precision servo motor. Thus, each clamp becomes a real servo axis enabling the machine to cut multiple pieces from a profile, separate and work on each piece in the same machining cycle (Independent motorized clamp control – MDT Module).

 

MDT also enables step fabrication function (MAB) where the clamps work as bar feeder allowing the machine to feed, process, cut and repeat these steps until the production quantity is reached.

  • • Axes slide on precision profile guides with ball screw and are driven by servo motors operated by state of the art servo-drive systems
  • • Work piece clamps slide on precision linear guide rails and are positioned independently on CNC controlled axes. This enables to cut and separate profiles in multiple pieces than machine each piece in the same cycle.
